Description: Our client, a large media organisation, currently require a Storage Engineer to be part of a very large and technically complex.
This role is required to build and maintain the various servers and storage systems that are used for the platform. This includes development & integration environments, as well as stage and production systems. This is a ‘hands-on’ role that will be required to support the growth of these systems. It reports to the Infrastructure team lead within the Technical Delivery Group.
You will:
· Build physical storage systems, including SANS, disk arrays, switches and tape libraries
· Define and apply configurations and changes to the storage infrastructure
· Define and set up storage monitoring and alerting
· Perform related software installs
· Implement backup, replication and archive solutions as required
· Basic admin tasks, such as patching, disk space management, LUN creation, backup management
· Advanced admin tasks as required in relation to problem resolution, change management etc.
· Ensure systems are clearly documented, and kept current
· Support development activities to support fast paced, agile development teams
You need to be able to demonstrate a strong background in infrastructure and storage management. Specifically we will be looking for:
· Experience of building and supporting internet class platforms, including server and network device including configuration, problem solving
· Knowledge of working on distributed systems across different physical locations
· Evidence of automation tools for managing configurations, writing scripts and reducing manual intervention
· Experience of the likely problems and pitfalls of running such a large storage system and strategies for managing it
· Evidence of working in teams, particularly distributed teams in different offices/locations
· Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and to keep to deadlines
· Good attention to details and ability to complete important documentation
We will expect you to be able to demonstrate at least 3 of the following:
· Significant experience of installation and administration of HP MSA and EVA Storage
· Significant experience of Installation and administration of CISCO SAN fabric
· Significant experience of Installation and administration Tape Libraries - Fibrechannel and SCSI
· Storage management via SNMP
· Installation and administration of one or more HSM products
· Installation and basic administration of Linux
· Installation and basic administration of Windows
