The role.
As a Recruitment Consultant you act as an intermediary between businesses and candidates, ensuring that our clients obtain the best staff and our candidates secure the right jobs.

Fuel Recruitment is a specialist consultancy and pride ourselves on working in partnership with our clients to identify and contact the very best candidates in the market. Your work will cover the full lifecycle of the recruitment process, from initial contact with clients and identifying their staffing needs, through sourcing class-leading candidates to managing the placement of these individuals.

No two days in recruitment are the same; working with a wide range of people and in a variety of situations mean there is a huge amount of variety in the job. However, your role will encompass 3 main areas of work:

A large part of any Recruitment Consultant’s day is spent identifying and shortlisting candidates for the roles they are working on. Depending on the specific role, you will employ a variety of methods including writing and posting job advertisements to attract talented candidates, searching the internal database of existing candidates, searching internet CV databases, social and business networking and head-hunting. Many candidates are spoken to at length about the vacancy, allowing the Recruitment Consultant to arrive at a shortlist of candidates whose CV’s will be sent to the client. Fuel Recruitment pride ourselves on the quality of our candidates and so spend a large amount of time gathering information on them to ensure they are the very best people in their respective fields.

The business development element of the role involves winning new business (finding vacancies) to fill. Recruitment Consultants do this by a variety of methods including researching their client base, telephone sales (both to existing clients and new prospects that they have identified), networking, attending client meetings and more formal tender presentations.

It’s important to note that whilst this is not a telephone sales or call centre role. We measure ourselves on quality of service and the relationships with our clients, and not on the number of calls you’re making.

Managing the Recruitment Process:
This involves discussing the job requirement in detail with the client, preparing both the client and the candidates for interview, managing the interview process itself, negotiating with all parties around notice periods, start date, salary and fee, taking references and ID checks and keeping in contact with all parties throughout the process. Throughout this process the Recruitment Consultant is focused on building excellent relationships to ensure repeat business.

The Individual:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven graduate with great people skills. You will be comfortable working in a phone based role, meeting and managing candidates through the recruitment process and you will have a drive to uphold high standards within your work. An interest in technology (IT or telecoms ideally) or the business world in general (business studies, management, economics, etc.) would be advantageous as would previous experience in a sales, customer service or telephone based role. However, fundamentally we believe that the right personality is essential for these roles: previous experience is not a pre-requisite.

The Training:
The Fuel Recruitment Training Academy is a comprehensive training plan delivered to all new Recruitment Consultants. The Academy is a yearlong accreditation process of extensive training and testing in recruitment processes, methodology and legislation. Individuals are required to complete a written exam before they become accredited Consultants. The training plan was created to provide a formal pathway for consultants to follow, taking them from having no recruitment experience to being knowledgeable Consultants.
