Senior Legal Manager
The Senior Legal Manager is responsible for providing Legal advice to support business stakeholders and to ensure legal compliance in respect of business decisions, processes, agreements and other documentation. The person in this role is also responsible for drafting and negotiating complex contracts with customers, landlords, and vendors while closely collaborating with the Head of Legal Uganda, and other senior management. The incumbent works closely with all functions within the business unit to define business risks, develop applicable policies, processes and controls. He/she is also responsible for the management of outsourced Legal partners.
? Working independently, with the support of the Head of Legal and input from the business, to draft a range of contracts and documents including but not limited to, construction, maintenance, power and other services contracts, supply agreements, leasing and build to suit agreements, letter agreements as well as settlement agreements.
? Providing expert Legal advice to support business stakeholders.
? Ensuring Legal compliance of business decisions, processes and documentation.
? Providing training to staff and contractors on any Legal developments impacting the business.
? Understanding and ensuring contractual compliance with executed contracts, letter agreements, Master Lease Agreements (MLAs) and Asset Purchase Agreements including but not limited to the development of contract summaries and conducting training for various departments regarding the Company’s legal obligations under such agreements.
? Providing training to the business, customers and vendors with respect to anti-corruption and anti-bribery obligations.
? Supporting the Head of Legal and the business with respect to discussions and/or negotiations with government officials on topics that may include: project implementation, challenging of interpretations, or advocating for or against existing or proposed legislation, regulation or interpretation of law.
? Providing Legal support and advice to the criminal prosecutions and security team on any cases as they may arise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
? Admitted advocate
? LLB Degree or equivalent qualification
? 6 + years relevant experience in applying general commercial and corporate law
? 3+ years of property law and/or telecommunications law experience
