Our client are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join our technical support service team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems that support telecom networks, data centres, and Street cabinets. This role requires expertise in power systems, cooling solutions, structural design, and ensuring reliable operation of telecom infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:

  • Design and integrate mechanical and electrical components for data centres, and network facilities.
  • Develop plans and technical drawings for HVAC, power distribution, grounding, and structural support systems.
  • Design backup power solutions (generators, UPS systems, and battery banks) to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new infrastructure solutions that align with network expansion goals.

Testing and Analysis:

  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate structural integrity and electrical load capacities.
  • Perform thermal analysis to optimize cooling systems for telecom shelters and data rooms.
  • Test electrical components and systems to ensure compliance with telecom standards and regulations.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation.
  • Monitor and upgrade HVAC systems, power supplies, and grounding systems to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Dealing with Major incidents investigations and RCA reporting.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all mechanical and electrical designs comply with telecom industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, ANSI) and local regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site audits to ensure environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards are met.
  • Implement redundancy and safety measures to mitigate risks during outages or equipment failures.




Project Management:

  • Lead infrastructure upgrade projects for telecom facilities, managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Collaborate with project managers and network engineers to meet deployment goals.
  • Manage procurement and logistics for equipment and materials related to telecom infrastructure.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance, planning, organising and supervising.
  • Mechanical & Electrical fault triage, investigation and continuous improvement.
  • Incident management and incident reporting.
  • Supplier & Spares Management.
  • Strong Customer and stakeholder management skills
  • Site visits, including quality assurance checks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical/electrical engineering, preferably in the telecommunications, data centre, or power distribution sectors.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD and design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Strong understanding of telecom power systems (AC/DC power, rectifiers, inverters).
  • Experience with HVAC systems, generator systems, and cooling technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • PMS, EMS & BMS experience essential
