Highways England have awarded this client the contract for the operation and management of NRTS2 (National Roads Telecommunication Services), NRTS is the network of communication and control that Highways England uses to monitor and manage England’s motorways and major trunk roads, it is a critical component of national infrastructure supporting the country’s 4,400 mile strategic road network.

The contract includes a major technology transformation programme in addition to general maintenance and management of the network; The transformation programme comprises of 11 technology projects, including the introduction of new wireless and IP CCTV services, new management systems and the next-generation upgrade of all technology, this will ultimately enable Highways England to prepare for the future and enable safer roads, more efficient delivery and a better road user experience.

Role Profile:
Reporting to the Commercial Manager you will work closely with the legal and commercial team, and the wider Project team to help provide commercial support and expertise to help ensure this client is exercising its obligations fully in line with the contractual requirements, and in a way that ultimately delivers both best value for the client and a delighted customer

The role will require commercial experience and knowledge that can be drawn on to understand and implement the requirements of the business

Typical Deliverables:
•Providing advice on the contract documents and schedules to the wider project team
•Provide general commercial advice and assistance to the wider project team
•Co-ordination of the signature process for Contract Changes, Non-Disclosure Agreements and other contractual documents
•Responsible for building a strong working relationship of mutual trust and respect with the relevant members of the Customers Team
•Responsible for building a strong working relationship of mutual trust and respect with the relevant members of the project team and internal customer groups
•Manage the Contract Change process, from Change Request, Impact Assessments through to signature of the Contract Change
•Draft standard contract change requirements, and support the Commercial Manager in the development of more complex change requirements
•Maintain the Change Log
•Arrange signature and appropriately file Contract Changes
•Maintain a working copy of the Agreement incorporating the agreed change
•Provide support and tracking of the proposal and approval process for additional projects work ensuring the applicable internal and customer approval paperwork is appropriately completed and managed.
•Provide support to the claims process in line with our contractual obligations & liaise with the central Legal and Commercial Team to ensure appropriate processes are followed
•Log and maintain contractual documentation on the central document management system
•Arrange and co-ordinate the meetings that underpin the Contract Management Process and manage, write and circulate the minutes and other associated documentation (change log etc.).
•Provide commercial support and assistance as required to the Commercial Manager including assisting with larger/more complex contract changes and commercial contracts etc.
•Become knowledgeable on the contract
•Deputise for the Commercial Manager in their absence

What we are looking for from you:
•Degree/HND/HNC in a legal or other appropriate discipline is desirable. Depth and breadth of experience will be taken into account where these qualifications have not been attained
