My client is a world class engineering consultancy delivering full-system design, test and integration expertise to the automotive, defence, rail and transport industries. They also specialise in developing low carbon and autonomous driving. Due to major growth and investment they now require a HVAC Systems Engineer to join the Fluids Engineering Team.

Main Purpose of Job:

The Fluids Engineering Team are responsible for the development of advanced HVAC Systems for automotive applications. This role will enhance the current team by adding strength in the following areas:
• Planning and overseeing bench tests and vehicle climatic tests
• Sizing, Development and Optimisation of Vehicle Thermal Management Systems with a focus on advanced HVAC systems
• Evaluation of Thermal Energy Efficiency
• Support of test engineers and technicians
• Definition of Climate Control Logic
• Customer liaison

Key Functions:

• Overseeing and participating in test and development work for vehicle’s Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems at component, sub-system and whole vehicle levels
• Analysing data and providing recommendations
• Preparing technical reports
• Working to strict timescales and budgets constraints including close interaction with customer engineers
• Providing engineering consultancy to customers

Essential Experience/Qualifications:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a HVAC test and development role in an OEM or automotive consultancy. A similar role within the building, rail or aerospace industry could be acceptable. You will be a confident and proactive engineer with an ability to understand the need of the customer as well as delivering a high standard of technical support backed up with solid report-writing skills.

You will also have:
• A strong thermodynamics background
• Good understanding of the physics involved in HVAC systems
• Solid report writing skills
• A relevant engineering degree or significant equivalent experience
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Any experience of the following would be beneficial:
• 1-D simulation of HVAC systems
• Vehicle climatic testing
• Climate controls and software
• Powertrain/battery thermal management for EV’s
