Implementation Engineer – Milton Keynes – Permanent

Job Purpose:
Developing skills to supporting the design and deployment of the active service portfolio, including site design, change management system & network commissioning, project management. This role will cover many of the following areas:
• Design & Deliver – Design physical installation packs, processes, for network moves/adds & changes, manage 3rd parties for physical installation and site commissioning. Focus on developing, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. Experience working in BT sites under BT rules and regulation.
• Operate Management – Working with Engineers and 3rd parties (example: BT or other 3rd party owned sites) to integrate new resources into the existing network, from configuration to inventory management.
• Operational Improvement – Deliver a continuous set of incremental improvements to the deployment process considering data integrity, efficiency, cost and automation.

Key Responsibilities:
• To build and grow deployment capability within our client, working in BT Openreach and 3rd party colocation sites
• To rollout network changes & manage deployments
• To integrate platforms into the management network
• To direct 3rd part installation teams & perform quality assurance on their work
• Work with Vendor relationships in regards securing a repeatable supply chain

Knowledge & Experience:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Well-developed troubleshooting skills and methodologies
• Attitude to self-study
• Good understanding of BT OSA products, WDM, Alien waves
• Excellent understanding of colocation products – dark fibre, cross connect, rental, power, cooling
• Previous deployment & planning experience including field experience in a multivendor environment
• Ability to complete installation work i.e. may require physical lifting, and Q/A assess installations in the field
• Good understanding of operational process for process/quality improvement
• Basic understanding of analytics, and some common tools & dataset manipulation to automate builds
• Good understanding of environmental considerations for network builds & augments

• Electrical cabling/wiring systems experience
• Good understanding of layer 2 & 3 technologies with an emphasis on ethernet & IP

• Experience is more beneficial than certification
