•To lead the UK material operations in accordance with the 4PL Head Office requests and demands to create cost-effective and efficient flows for GM Europe.
•Responsible for managing, scheduling, organising and monitoring of material transport flows to the UK plants of GM within the scope of the 4PL contract and adhering to customer lead times, using all appropriate methods.
•Support all 4PL Material Operations Managers as and when required, such as re-engineering or contract resourcing (BPM).
•Design/engineering of comprehensive transport and logistics solutions according to the current potential resources and customer’s requirements.
•Regular analysis of forecasts for delivery volumes using VolAn and other appropriate tools, as required.
•Launch, with Purchasing, RFQs to ensure that sufficient resources are available and make any necessary short-term adjustments in connection with third party carriers.
•Monitor carrier service performance against KPIs and request explanation and adjustments if the defined lead-times are not achieved. Monitor, propose and manage corrective plans, as required.
•Organise and conduct regular carrier review meetings and record all meeting minutes in standard format.
•Responsible for the timely production of UK KPIs relating to inbound material flows and submit monthly reports.
•Ensure that all budgeted targets are maintained, making appropriate and suitable efficiency proposals.
•Ensure 3PL carriers undertake sufficient audit and compliance reviews.
•Lead the Material Operations Team in order to ensure that the CCC’s performance in managing information, Monday Adjustments, trailer utilisation and rejected proposals are monitored and escalated where appropriate.
•Ensure that the CCC’s transport proposals are actioned efficiently with accurate routing plans (e.g. Groupage, LTL, milk-run and FTL).
•Ensure that all relevant personnel within the Materials Operation Team have the necessary skills and training.
•Act as the customer’s direct contact, reports to the customer and ensures customer satisfaction.
•Responsible for the successful Break Point Management on all new or revised contracts.
•Act as a line manager of Materials Team members in accordance with Company policies and procedures (e.g. absence management, performance management, recruitment activities, disciplinary and grievance management, etc.)
•Identify and plan actions for integrating new employees within the Operations Team.
•Promote employee initiative and set SMART objectives for all team members in order to achieve team goals.
•Analyse the team’s skill level and propose plans for development.
•Ensure skills flexibility between the team members in order to guarantee business continuity in case of absences.
•Monitor and plan to cover absences of employees (Leave, training, business trip, etc.)
•Promote, manage and instigate the 5S ethos throughout the team
•Comply with the MTQ process including regular team meetings
•Establish plan to minimize impact of anomaly/crisis situations (i.e. strikes, bad weather, etc).
