Role Profile:
We are looking to attract a Senior Category Manager with a background as a hard hitter in a FTSE250 procurement function. Managing a wide variety of IT suppliers, including Hardware, Software, Professional Services and Licensing, this rare vacancy gives you a huge opportunity to further develop your negotiation skills and apply them within our high profile, half a billion-pound contract. Reporting to the Head of Procurement in, we want you to demonstrate your strategic approach to transforming who we work with and the terms around that.

The Project:
Highways England have awarded this client the contract for the operation and management of NRTS (National Roads Telecommunication Services), a critical component of national infrastructure supporting the country’s 4,400-mile strategic road network. This contract will provide an end-to-end managed service to build, maintain, and modernise the network.

Typical Deliverables:
• Take responsibility for the reporting and delivery of budgets, savings and cash flow targets
• Manage, implement and deliver all aspects of category strategy, including optimisation plans
• Provide guidance and management of a Junior Buyer team member
• Proactively support on new innovation projects for IT
• Manage regular supplier performance reviews and negotiations around commercials
• Management of tender programme

The ideal candidate will be able to:
• Be able to demonstrate managing large value supplier contracts (min value £1m+ per contract)
• Preferably contracts where the delivery is in a critical environment or there is constant change or challenge of those contracts
• Be able to evidence that they have a good knowledge of managing Change on a contract post signature and
o Demonstrate strength in leading a team to a unified position where lack of clarity exists
o Present facts and logical challenges based on the documentation and contracts provided
o Can provide logical recommendations of a way forward in a challenging dispute
o Show leadership and stakeholder engagement
o Demonstrate good communication skills
o Be highly professional, articulate and able to evidence good housekeeping regarding contract changes
o Demonstrable communication abilities, especially with senior stakeholders
o Previous experience of managing junior people

Business Operations Skills – Qualifications:
• Either CIPs qualified of 3 years’ experience in FTSE250 procurement function
• Preferably ITIL qualified
