Wintel & SCCM Engineer

Job Title: Wintel & SCCM Engineer
Location: Winchester
Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £55,000 Per Annum + 5% Bonus

Key Responsibilities
(deliverables of the day job)
• Install, test, analyse, troubleshoot and modify new equipment/solutions to achieve maximum performance and availability
• Provide technical expertise in the development and deployment of service infrastructure, driving improved technical and service performance
• Design and drive processes to facilitate smooth and seamless deployment of new services
• Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that delivery specifications and standards meet requirements
• Standardise equipment to minimise disruption and achieve straightforward integration with existing networks/infrastructure
• Document engineering build procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures
• Contribute to accurate forecasting and capacity management
• Provide technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge and skills and providing mentoring support to engineers and technicians
• Adopt the role of Design Authority (DA) in area of expertise to ensure the delivery of the end to end customer solution and for less complex projects Lead Design Authority (LDA)

Business Context
The purpose of this role is to act as part of the Wintel team within the IT&N department. You will possess specialist expertise in Wintel Server, Desktop and SCCM. The purpose of this role is to ensure the normal operation of the Wintel estate, applications and End user image(s) through provision of proactive and reactive procedures to protect the organisation and its customers. Working with 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that specifications and standards meet requirements. There will also be a requirement to lead technically and/or in a management capacity, new programmes of work through the various project lifecycle (Design, Build, Transition, Support).

The successful candidate may need to undertake travel throughout the UK with the possibility of overnight stays away from home for short periods of time. There is also a requirement to participate in the duty engineers on-call 24/7 rota.

Essential requirements
University degree/equivalent or minimum of 5 years equivalent industry/leadership experience
Microsoft Certification, for example MCSA or equivalent
Excellent presentation and effective communication skills
ITIL v3 Foundation
Eligible for SC Clearance
Technical/functional knowledge and experience required
Technical Support or IT Infrastructure background

Exceptional working knowledge of Server and Database infrastructure, this includes:
-Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager(SCCM)
-Windows Server based operating systems (2003, 2008, 2012, 2016,2019)
-Windows Desktop base operating systems (7 & 10)
-MS Intune
-Microsoft Office (2013, 2016 & O365)
-MSI and related packaging skills
-Excellent report writing skills
-Experience of working with client and server hardware
-Excellent understanding of current IT and industry initiatives
-Excellent communication skills

-Active Directory infrastructure
-Demonstrable Cloud Technology experience
-Knowledge of VMware Horizon View
-Experience of VMware vSphere
-Experience of managing a complex licensing agreement in order to maintain relevant compliance
-PowerShell(or equivalent) scripting/automation exposure
-Experience of working within an ITIL aligned environment
-Understanding of project management methodology
-Understanding of architectural, roadmap and design disciplines
-Experience of building, configuring and deploying complex designs
-Experience in design architecture and documentation (HLD's & LLD's)
