Richard is a dedicated Manchester United fan and a lover of all thing’s sports, enjoying both watching and playing, particularly golf when time allows. His downtime is spent with his children and their one-year-old Cavachon, Bertie, who keeps the family on their toes.
Richard likes to read and his favourite series is the Jack Reacher novels, which he has read multiple times. He has a passion for historical novels, especially those focused on organised crime.
An interesting fact about Richard: his grandfather was originally due to sail on the Titanic but was unable to make the trip due to illness, ultimately giving his ticket to a friend.
Toby has seamlessly transitioned into the recruitment industry, bringing with him a passion for semi-professional football and a background in customer service and football coaching. His experience in customer service has sharpened his ability to understand and meet client needs, while his coaching background has instilled in him valuable leadership and teamwork skills. Toby is a dedicated Aston Villa fan, regularly attending both home and away matches. He enjoys spending time walking his dog, Lily, and going on family holidays. A fun fact about Toby is that he was one of the youngest players to make their National League North debut for his hometown team, Leamington FC.
Josh has a background in retail and brings a strong understanding of the importance of delivering exceptional service while meeting key goals. Josh’s ability to build lasting relationships ensures that he is dedicated to finding the best candidates for every role, supporting both clients and candidates in achieving their objectives.
Josh is passionate about football, playing for a local Sunday league team and attending Coventry City matches whenever possible. He also enjoys playing golf every other week to unwind. To stay active, Josh likes to go for walks and visit the gym, while also making time to relax with his family. Josh loves traveling to Spain, where the combination of great food and warm weather makes for the perfect holiday.
Mark founded Fuel Recruitment in 2003, building on nearly a decade of experience in the technical recruitment industry. He began his career in 1994, initially supplying Contractors to the Telecommunications industry and later expanding into IT and Broadcast sectors, handling both Contract and permanent placements. He has also led the delivery of large-scale Managed Service solutions. With his extensive expertise in managing teams and large budgets, Mark has been the driving force behind Fuel’s growth into a market leader. Under his guidance, the company has garnered numerous awards, including recognition in The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track and LSEG’s “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain.”
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark is passionate about fostering a values-driven culture, with a focus on high-quality customer service—a cornerstone of Fuel Recruitment’s success.
Mark enjoys an active lifestyle. He’s a keen cyclist and regularly uses his Peloton to stay fit. Skiing, rugby and motorsport are among his favourite pastimes, and he has a passion for classic cars. When he's not outdoors, Mark likes to spend time with his family. Family holidays are often to Devon or the Alps, although he’s always eager to explore new destinations together.
An interesting fact about Mark is that he has lived with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 28, but his determination to live life to the fullest ensures it doesn’t hold him back.
As one of the founding members of Fuel Recruitment, Murray plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s success. In his position as Head of Sales, he leads all Sales and Business Development focussing mainly in Telecoms. With over 20 years of experience in recruitment, Murray is a recognised recruitment expert in the Telecoms sector. His expertise makes him the go-to contact for major Telecoms clients, with a particular focus on international placements, Critical National Infrastructure, and Government Communications.
Murray also has experience working with Public Sector leaders on projects that span the UK. From digital strategy and transformation to agile development and project delivery, Murray has contributed to innovative initiatives for high-profile organisations such as the Home Office, HMRC, Cabinet Office, and others.
Murray is a family man, married to Zoe with one son, Toby. He enjoys spending time with his two dogs and is passionate about Rugby, particularly when Scotland competes in the Six Nations. He's also a lifelong supporter of Luton Town FC.
When he’s looking to unwind, Murray can often be found fly fishing in quiet, walking the dogs in peaceful spots or tending to his garden.
An interesting fact about Murray is that he was born in Malaysia and once held a full private pilot's license, complete with twin and night ratings.
As a Senior Lead Consultant in Fuel Recruitment’s IT division, Sam specialises in core Infrastructure and Data Science recruitment, working closely with key clients across the country on both permanent and Contract roles. Sam excels at matching the right talent with the right opportunities, sourcing everything from Analysts and Developers to Engineers and Project Management teams. His dedication to providing exceptional service ensures that both candidates and clients have a positive and seamless experience.
Sam is a passionate Liverpool FC supporter and enjoys attending matches whenever he can get tickets! He’s also a keen gamer, enjoying games such as Overwatch, FIFA, Pokémon, and Star Wars-themed games.
To relax, Sam loves to travel, with his favourite destinations including Thailand, Mexico, Barcelona, and Prague.
An interesting fact about Sam: he once won an Emperor’s New Groove colouring competition as a child—only to find out years later that his step-mum had edited his entry before sending it in!
Steve began his recruitment career with Allegis Group before joining Fuel Recruitment as one of its founding members. As Operations Director, Steve is responsible for shaping and managing Fuel’s long-term operations strategy, ensuring that the business runs on a foundation of solid and efficient processes that support its overall objectives. He oversees the delivery of recruitment services to clients, with a commitment to excellence, compliance, and professionalism. With over 20 years of experience in the recruitment industry, Steve is passionate about maintaining the highest standards of service, treating both candidates and clients with the same care and respect he would expect himself.
Outside of work, Steve’s life revolves around his family. With two boys just 12 months apart in age, he and his wife stay busy exploring the outdoors. Weekends are often spent visiting zoos, enjoying walks and picnics, or discovering the charm of local Cotswold villages. The family also loves to explore English Heritage and National Trust properties, and you'll often find them splashing around in rivers or playing at the park.
Steve is an avid reader and remains a fan of fantasy and historical novels. Some of his favourite authors include David Gemmell, Conn Iggulden, and Joe Abercrombie, although these days, it’s often just a few pages before sleep takes over!
Ellie is our Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator, responsible for a variety of administrative tasks supporting our sales and delivery teams, clients, and candidates. She also manages our social media and marketing, focusing on creating engaging, on brand content to enhance our online presence. With 10 years of experience across HR, Operations, and even wedding planning, Ellie brings a wealth of expertise to her role.
Ellie loves spending quality time with her family, especially with her young daughter Isabelle. She has a miniature Dachshund named Poppy, who enjoys joining the family on long walks. Ellie is passionate about baking and cooking and loves going out for a good meal. Life with a young child means she often spends weekends at parks, children’s activity centres, and soft play areas.
An interesting fact about Ellie is that she turned her love for fudge into a business, running The Fabulous Fudge Company as a hobby and creative outlet in her spare time.
Lorraine has been a vital part of Fuel Recruitment since 2003 and is a Director of the business. Starting her journey managing Contractor payroll and back-office operations, Lorraine now serves as Financial Controller, overseeing the day-to-day accounts, credit control, and payroll administration. With a Diploma in Business and Finance, and qualifications in Sage Accounts, Sage Payroll, and bookkeeping, Lorraine's expertise ensures the smooth financial management of the company. Prior to Fuel, she worked for several renowned modelling agencies in London, and over the years, has successfully balanced her career with her role as a mother to three children.
Lorraine enjoys walking the family dog to playing tennis and spending time with friends and family. She also loves to unwind by watching movies, especially romantic comedies, and going on holidays.
Having had 3 premature babies, Lorraine is committed to charitable work. She volunteers through the Bliss Charity at the Neonatal Unit at UHCW Hospital, supporting families and babies born premature or sick, a cause close to her heart.
Elaine joined Fuel in 2011 as Financial Controller and has since taken charge of the Back Office Team, overseeing all finance and administration functions. With a career spanning various industries, from software development to media, and even body armour manufacturing, Elaine brings a wealth of experience in managing office operations. Her qualifications, which include a BA in Business Administration, AAT full membership (MAAT) Professional Diploma, and memberships in prestigious financial and management institutes, reflect her expertise in finance, administration, and personnel management. Elaine is also a trained ISO internal auditor, ensuring that the team stays ahead of evolving office functions and compliance requirements.
Elaine has a love for history, crime, psychology, and Gothic architecture. She enjoys exploring historical sites and indulging in her passion for old folklore and magic. While no longer practicing, she has a background in martial arts and enjoys watching rugby more than football, though she's happy to watch any sport. Her eclectic hobbies include collecting and selling funky irregular choice shoes, listening to music, and solving her grandchildren’s tricky homework—sometimes with more success than expected!
Since joining Fuel in 2017, Katie has showcased her adaptability by excelling in a variety of roles. Starting as Talent Acquisition Manager, she has progressed to Operations Manager, bringing a wealth of experience in HR, internal recruitment, and operations across industries like banking, automotive, and recruitment. Katie plays a crucial role in managing the end-to-end recruitment process for all internal hires, including on-boarding and training new staff. She also helps develop and deliver the “Fuel Academy of Training” programme, which supports the growth of Fuel Recruitment’s consultants. She is also responsible for maintaining Fuels longstanding ISO 9001:2015 accreditation
Katie leads an active lifestyle, balancing her gym routine with weekends spent horse riding and taking long countryside walks—often with a stop or three at a local pub. She enjoys spending time at her family’s homes, either in the picturesque countryside on the border of North Devon and Cornwall or visiting her brother in sunny southern Spain for a relaxing holiday escape.
Although she is known for being the clumsiest person in the room, she’s surprisingly handy with DIY projects. Having learned from her dad growing up, she’s tackled tasks like plumbing, wallpapering, and laying flooring, often earning a few injuries along the way but always finding satisfaction in a job well done!
Joe is our Principal Consultant working across the Telecoms and IT sectors within permanent, contract and scope of works. Having joined Fuel after working in hospitality for 17 years, Joe knows how to provide the very best customer service and has built long-lasting relationships with his candidates as a result. Joe provides recruitment services to a number of major clients focusing on the Cellular, Fibre, Critical National Infrastructure and Government sectors both across the UK and Internationally. With a track record of success placing C-suite professionals, Project Managers, Design Engineers, Site Surveyors, Test Engineers as well as Fibre Instillation Teams, Wireless Engineers and Coordinators.
Prior to working in Recruitment, Efthy worked in fast-paced environments like the NHS and digital sales. Efthy has a degree in Psychology which has helped him sharpen his critical thinking and interpersonal skills, which he applies daily while working with Clients and candidates in Fuel’s busy Telecoms Division. He is well-versed in the demands of the Mobile, Fibre, and Critical National Infrastructure sectors, and specialises in placing top talent in roles such as Radio Engineers, Design Engineers, Fibre Engineers, Project/Product Manager, Wiremen, and others. Efthy takes pride in building trusted relationships with both clients and candidates, ensuring successful placements on both a Contract and permanent basis.
Efthymios is passionate about football, whether it’s playing or watching the game. Family is at the heart of his life, and spending time with his daughter helps him relax and unwind. He’s also kept active by his lively Jack Russell and he frequently travels to Greece to see family and friends where he feels most at home.
Phoebe is an expert in the Telecoms industry with extensive knowledge of the fibre sector. She has a background in customer service and plays a vital role in Fuel Recruitment’s Telecoms Division, supporting its growth by building strong relationships with both clients and candidates. Throughout her time at Fuel, Phoebe has successfully placed industry specialists at all levels, including Programme Directors, Heads of Departments, Engineers, Surveyors, and Project Managers.
Phoebe is a keen amateur runner and enjoys spending time with friends and family. She loves diving into thriller and crime novels, particularly those by James Patterson. Her ideal holiday spot is somewhere hot and tropical with delicious food, where she can relax and recharge.
Rich Giles is a Lead Consultant specialising in IT recruitment, even though he has a background in the telecoms sector as a former Retail Manager. He understands the ever-evolving technology landscape enabling him to effectively deliver resourcing solutions for both Contract and permanent IT assignments across the UK. Rich has particular expertise in mission-critical national infrastructure, IT services, and Solution Architecture. He takes pride in building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with both clients and candidates, ensuring tailored and effective recruitment solutions.
