Senior RF Design Engineer
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a range of single operator and bespoke multi operator JOTs full production design submissions, taking ownership of the technical specification and ensuring delivery on time and within scope.
- Remote and local troubleshooting of in-building dedicated, RFoF, Small Cell & C-RAN deployed solutions. Liaising with both the client and colleagues.
- Produce, review, and evaluate detailed designs proposals, commissioning reports and handover reports.
- Support the Q&A department with design document approvals.
- Ensure HSQE is maintained throughout all aspects of the role.
- Support, guide and help train less experienced members of the Survey & Design team.
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Solid understanding of RF in-building design skills, experience of multi operator designs including active RFoF DAS, Small Cell, Off-Air Repeater deployments as well as passively deployed DAS solutions.
- Experience in the industries standard radio prediction and design tool; iBwave Enterprise (Rel14). Must have the ability to design E2E RFoF and structured cabled solutions within the software.
- Good understanding of 2nd/3rd/4th/5th Generation radio networks and architectures.
- Good understanding of specific technologies i.e., GSM/UMTS/LTE-A/Wi-Fi.
- Experience with RF specific lab equipment (Network / Spectrum Analyzer, RF Signal Generator)
- Good understanding in commissioning active (RF over Fibre) DAS solutions including noise, capacity, and link budget calculations/analysis.
- Knowledge of CW survey methods as both a design validation and system commissioning tool.
- Strong customer facing skills interfacing with high profile customers i.e. UK Mobile Operators.
- Ability to share knowledge and understanding in a coherent fashion.
- Professional approach including good communication skills, especially with the client.
- Professionally qualified in an appropriate engineering or technical subject preferred but not essential.
General Abilities Include
- Must be able to achieve a UK security clearance or airport airside pass application (5-year employment history, criminal record check).
- Must be prepared to work outside of standard business hours.
- Must demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt to new disciplines and technics.
- Must be prepared to work away from home in the field conducting site visits.
- Must be prepared to work away from home for extended periods (given proportional notice).
- Excellent presentation and time keeping.
- Ability to adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Able to work from an office and remote location as required.
- Ability to adhere to project deadlines with little support from management.
- Ability to take instruction and constructive criticism from peers.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel/Word/Visio).
- Full UK driving licence. Preferably clean.
