Fibre Quality and Delivery Specialist

Fibre Quality & Delivery Specialist – 3-month contract – Elgin / Northumberland – Field-based – £405 per day (Outside IR35) 

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct quality inspections on in-progress and completed works, ensuring compliance with scope, specifications, and budget.

• Provide technical support to Planning, Diversionary Works, Projects, and Enterprise delivery teams to enhance “right first time” delivery.

• Produce site visit reports and support SLA compliance and customer satisfaction.

• Identify and address health, safety, and environmental issues in collaboration with H&S teams.

• Monitor supplier performance, manage rectification of non-compliant works, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support service restoration activities and attend sites when required.

• Assist with training delivery on new technologies and fibre specifications for internal teams and suppliers.

• Undertake direct technical tasks such as OTDR testing, patch cord tracing, and joint surveys when required and deemed competent.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Expert knowledge of fibre installation practices, including civils, cabling, splicing, and testing.

• In-depth understanding of the New Roads and Street Works Act and relevant codes of practice.

• Strong grasp of HS&E monitoring, legislation, and reporting processes.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• NRSWA accreditation (Supervisor & Operative units)

• IOSH or equivalent H&S certification

• Full UK driving licence

• Proficient with standard IT applications (MS Office, etc.)

Performance Indicators:

• Timely completion and reporting of site audits and inspections.

• Effective resolution of technical and compliance issues.

• Quality of findings analysis and supplier performance reviews.

• Contribution to Opex avoidance and service improvement initiatives.
