SMT Technician

SMT Technician – £28,000-32,000 – Bedfordshire

This is a hands-on position focused on operating and overseeing Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes. The role involves setting up and managing SMT production lines, with a strong emphasis on ensuring that PCB assemblies meet stringent industry quality standards. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting consistent production flow and will work closely with both Engineering and technical teams to resolve production challenges and introduce improvements. A strong focus on accuracy and quality will contribute to the delivery of robust, high-performance products with minimal need for rework or material loss.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a skilled professional with the following core experience:

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proficient in operating pick-and-place equipment, including platforms such as MyData, as well as DEK, Jet printers, SPI systems, X-ray, and reflow ovens

• Familiarity with creating and managing custom component packages

• Ability to interpret and work from technical circuit diagrams and engineering drawings

• Experience programming DEK, SPI systems, and Jet printers

• Strong understanding of electronic components and identification techniques
