Buyer (Contract)

As part of our continued growth, we’re expanding our procurement team and seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Buyer to support our dynamic organisation. This role plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification, by sourcing the materials, components, and services that power innovative, high-tech solutions. You’ll work cross-functionally and with trusted suppliers to provide cost-effective procurement support that meets deadlines and upholds quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day procurement priorities, safety practices, and scheduling, ensuring effective collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Process MRP demands and tactical purchase requisitions, evaluate supplier quotations, and raise purchase orders in line with internal procedures

  • Generate and analyse quotations from material demand data (including Bills of Materials) to support bids and procurement activities

  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce supply chain costs through both tactical savings and long-term improvements

  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent performance and value delivery

  • Collaborate with senior team members to streamline procurement processes and reduce operational inefficiencies

  • Support project teams and internal departments with centralised procurement services

  • Maintain clear, regular communication across business units within a fast-paced, adaptable working environment


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Prior experience in a junior buying or procurement role

  • Comfortable working with MRP and financial/accounting systems

  • Background in engineering, maritime, defence, or technical industries is advantageous

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and able to use digital systems confidently

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask

  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritise activities based on business needs

  • Team-oriented approach with flexibility to operate in a dynamic environment

  • Problem-solving mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
